The Noticer

This book was a refreshing reminder about the importance of perspective. In the different scenarios given, simplistic lessons on the proper perspective really put things in a new light. The stories though simple, were profound, in that so much of what we experience in life is based on how we see our situation and how our view changes the way we deal with life’s challenges. By looking at a relationship, a challenge, or a hardship from another person’s view, the “noticer” gave an enlightened perspective with a positive twist to even the most difficult things in life.

Whether it was priorities in relationships, questioning one’s value at the end of life, feelings of hopelessness and defeat during one’s youth, or even choosing a life partner, practical, yet very wise viewpoints were given that could encourage people no matter where they are in life. One of the lessons I appreciated the most was at the beginning as it talked about how people are attracted to other positive, optimistic people. And the more positive people we attract to us, the more opportunities we have which create more optimistic outlooks which in turn attracts more people to us. This simple cycle shows the importance of trying to be positive no matter where we are in life and how that optimism over time can multiply the sources of blessings in our life.

This book was about the importance of choice – and how making the right choice about looking at our situation can in fact positively alter the outcome of our situations.
